AUDITORIO BLACKBERRY

AUDITORIO BLACKBERRY

Project: Estudio Atemporal
Location: Av. Insurgentes Sur 453, Hipódromo, CDMX, México.

Area: 4,931 m2
Year: 2012

Located in what was formerly the Cine Las Américas, designed by architect José Villagrán García in 1952, the BlackBerry Auditorium reinterprets the building’s original condition, which had remained abandoned for several years.

The current architectural program consists of a concert hall with a standing floor at ground level, a seating area on the upper level, mezzanine, services, bars, and a designated smoking area. The project focuses on preserving the structure of the building’s original layout and highlighting it through the design of common and service spaces. The interior of the hall is wrapped in a wooden skin that enhances the acoustic performance, making it an ideal venue for a wide range of multicultural exchange activities.
