CASA TOLEDO

CASA TOLEDO

Project: Estudio Atemporal
Location: Adormidera 22, CDMX, México
Area: 296 m2
Year: 2020

Taking as a starting point the formal and architectural references corresponding to the house’s historical period, the intervention seeks to remodel the first two floors while respecting their original uses, adapting them to contemporary ways of living. This includes increasing the number of bathrooms, rethinking the kitchen as a space for gathering and social interaction in addition to its utilitarian function, and reinterpreting the existing glazing elements throughout the house.

For the proposal on the second level, the design premise was to conceive the new volume as a light element that rests atop the existing house, creating a play of openness and enclosure while prioritizing natural light and visual relationships between spaces. Interior glazing, double-height openings, carefully placed skylights, and patios integrated into the interior further reinforce these spatial connections.
